A former presidential candidate in Nigeria and founder of Centre for Values in Leadership, Prof. Pat Utomi, has raised concern over the rising number of summits with Africa outside the continent.
His comment comes amid the ongoing Saudi-Africa Summit in Riyadh, which is being attended by several African leaders including President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto.
The professor of political economy highlighted the need for African leaders to put an end to the “hundreds of years of servitude” to which the continent has been subjected.
“Why does everyone have a summit with Africa? The US does. Russia does. China does etc., now Saudi Arabia. Can African leaders respect themselves, stay at home and do the work that will liberate this continent from hundreds of years of servitude or soon Oman will summon them,” he said on social media platform X on Friday.
